Fnatic’s 2023 LEC Season Finals journey takes an unexpected turn as Oscarinin suffers an injury, leading to an emergency substitution. Former player Wunder will be joining the League of Legends roster to fill the void.
In a surprising twist, Fnatic announced on Aug. 28 that Oscarinin played against Excel Esports with a hand injury and will require surgery this week. As a result, he will be unable to participate in the upcoming match against Team BDS on Sept. 2.
To address this setback, Fnatic has called upon their former top laner, Wunder, to step in for the crucial match against Team BDS. The winner of this match will secure a spot in the Worlds 2023 Swiss Stage and the final weekend of the 2023 LEC Season Finals in Montpellier, France. On the other hand, the loser will have to compete in the Worlds 2023 Qualifying Series.
The pressure is undoubtedly high, but Wunder is no stranger to such situations. With numerous LEC trophies under his belt, the Danish veteran has proven himself time and time again. He also achieved victory at the Mid-Season Invitational in 2019 and reached the finals of Worlds in the same year with G2 Esports.
Wunder previously parted ways with Fnatic on May 12 due to a challenging first half of the year. The team made changes, bringing in Oscarinin as his replacement, and later adding Noah and Trymbi in June.
This unexpected turn of events adds an extra layer of excitement and anticipation to the upcoming match. Fans will be eagerly watching as Wunder returns to the Fnatic roster, hoping to secure their spot in both Worlds 2023 and the final weekend of the LEC Season Finals.
