Nintendo’s latest financial results reveal that the Switch console has sold over 132 million units since its release in March 2017. The sales were boosted by the OLED version, with over four million units sold this year. This makes the Switch the second best-selling console for Nintendo, surpassing the Wii and Game Boy, but still trailing behind the Nintendo DS.
The Switch sold 2.93 million units in the last quarter, bringing the total to 132.46 million units. The software sales for the console also reached a record high of 1.133 billion units, surpassing the DS’ total software sales. Notably, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the highest-selling title on the Switch, with over 57 million units sold.
In the last quarter, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom emerged as the top-selling game on the console, with nearly 20 million copies sold. This highly-anticipated sequel to Breath of the Wild quickly climbed the ranks to become the ninth-highest-selling game on the Switch.
With the recent release of Super Mario Wonder, the number of software sales is expected to increase significantly. Despite challenges faced by the gaming industry, Nintendo continues to thrive and maintain its strong position in the market.
