The launch of MTG Arena in 2018 revolutionized the digital trading card game world, and this September, Wizards of the Coast is commemorating its birthday with exciting rewards and a glimpse into the future of Magic: The Gathering.
MTG Arena officially debuted on Sept. 27, 2018, and after five successful years, the digital TCG continues to thrive. With five competitive formats and a clear path to organized play, players have plenty of opportunities to showcase their skills.
WotC will be celebrating the five-year anniversary of MTG Arena throughout September. As part of the festivities, players can look forward to receiving free rewards towards the end of the month. These rewards, which may include individual card rewards, gold, and card styles, will be delivered to players’ MTG Arena mailboxes starting on Sept. 19 at around 12pm CT. Additionally, special deals will be available in the shop, although specific details have not been announced yet.
On Sept. 19, players can also join a Discord chat starting at 12pm CT to engage with the MTG Arena community.
Furthermore, on Sept. 12, WotC will host MTGWeekly on Twitch, featuring Chris Kirtz and Ian Adams. During this event, they will discuss the future of MTG Arena, including updates to the Explorer format with more Pioneer cards, monetization systems, and the future of Alchemy.
In addition to the free rewards, players have the opportunity to earn up to 4,000 XP rewards by participating in WPN local game store events. Moreover, the MTG Arena Open will take place on Sept. 16 and 17, offering Limited format gameplay in both Draft and Sealed. Players who achieve seven wins on day two will qualify for the October organized play Qualifier Weekend tournament.
