The VCT Challengers 2024 season is set to be a game-changer, as Riot Games plans to enhance the VALORANT athlete experience through fresh policies, Premier integration, and more. With 23 regional leagues worldwide, the upcoming season will feature qualifiers, playoffs, and Ascension tournaments in Asia-Pacific, EMEA, and Americas. But that’s not all – Riot is also introducing a “Path to Pro” to bridge the gap between non-pro players and the VCT circuit.
Starting next season, Premier, the in-game tournament mode, will work alongside Challengers to give deserving Premier teams a chance to prove themselves in official circuits. Riot will introduce the first Promotion and Relegation event between CL and Premier teams at the end of Stage 1, where Premier teams will compete for a slot in Stage 2 of VCT Challengers 2024. More details about this event will be announced soon.
Riot is also implementing three new policies with VCT Challengers 2024 to boost the Tier Two scene’s development. Affiliate partnerships will allow International VCT Leagues to collaborate with Challengers and Game Changers teams, enabling two-way player contracts and player loans. These changes aim to create an integrated ecosystem between professional and semi-professional scenes, providing fans with a closer look at both and helping Tier Two VALORANT talents reach their full potential.
To reduce gaps in the calendar, the 2025 VCT Challengers season will begin in October 2024, immediately after the conclusion of the 2024 Ascension tournaments in September.
