Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 1 Launches with Known Issues, Patch Coming Soon

Tim Price

Konami has announced that the Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 1, set to release tomorrow, will have several issues at launch. However, the company has assured fans that these issues will be addressed in a future patch.

Some of the problems players can expect include unsynchronized subtitles, typos, aspect ratio inconsistencies, slowdowns during cutscenes, and various bugs and glitches. PC players will also face limitations, as they won’t be able to switch between windowed and full-screen mode and will require a controller to play Metal Gear Solid 1. Additionally, the Nintendo Switch version will have a capped framerate of 30 FPS.

It’s worth noting that these games are over 30 years old, and previous Metal Gear Solid collections have also had their fair share of bugs and issues. Konami released the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection in 2011, which still has unresolved problems, and the 2020 releases on Good Old Games were also poorly optimized.

Despite the known issues, Konami’s transparency about the upcoming problems is commendable. Fans can only hope that the post-launch patch will not only address the current issues but also fix long-standing problems from previous re-releases. Until then, the Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 1 will have to suffice until the release of the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater remake.
